Sinusitis is a condition in which the sinuses are blocked and inflamed. There are some cavities inside the facial bones. These are related to the nasal cavity. These spaces are called sinuses.

Inflammation of these sinuses can cause headaches, facial pain, thick mucus in the nose, and nasal congestion. This condition is called sinusitis.

It can be chronic or acute. Chronic sinusitis is a disease of the upper respiratory tract. The inner lining of these sinuses is lined with a soft mucous membrane. For certain reasons, the mucous membrane swells and causes the accumulation of mucus or phlegm in these sinus cavities. Over time, bacteria can build up in these sinuses and cause sinusitis.

Frequent consumption of dry, greasy, spicy, extremely cold or extremely hot foods, heavy, indigestible, or incompatible foods disrupts the functioning of all three doshas. As a result, the weakened Kapha dosha accumulates in the sinuses, blocking the flow of Vata. Disturbance of Pitta dosha causes swelling of sinus tissue.

According to Ayurveda, other causes of sinusitis include production of Ama (toxins), shedding of tears and vomiting, exposure to cold and dusty environment, staying awake late at night, sleeping during the day, etc.

  1. Peppermint, clove, eucalyptus oil
    Boil 1-2 liters of water, add a few drops of clove oil, 10-12 crushed mint leaves, a few drops of eucalyptus oil or 1/3 cup of eucalyptus leaves.
